Trip mode is the only time Parta records where anyone is. It is worth being precise about it.
What it does
While a trip is running, your phone records a position every few minutes and sends it to that one group. Everyone in the group sees roughly where the others were, and when.
- It works only inside a group you joined, and only between that trip's dates.
- It shares nothing until you switch it on yourself, for that trip. The organiser opens the window; you decide whether to step into it.
- Turning it off stops the recording on your phone immediately, with or without signal. You do not have to explain why.
- Positions are deleted after 30 days, automatically.
What it does not do
- It is not live tracking. What the group sees is a point every so often, not a line moving across a map.
- A position can be old, missing, or badly wrong under trees, in a valley or between tall buildings. Treat it as where to start looking, not where someone is.
- It cannot call for help, and nobody at Parta is watching. If somebody is in trouble, the group calls the emergency number.
Why it is built this way
A trip has an end. Your friends agreeing to look after each other for three days is not the same as being followed for a year, and the app should not blur the two.
That is also why changing a trip's dates switches trip mode off for everyone and tells the group: new dates are a new agreement.
